Carpenter bees are important native pollinators that are misunderstood. the male drones (pictured here) do not bore into the wood and do not have stingers, they primarily patrol around the nest, sometimes aggressively buzzing your head. Treated and painted wood will typically deter carpenter bees from boring into it to make their nests.
